The Crypto App vs. Delta

6 min read · Verified September 2026

Delta, owned by eToro, is a multi-asset tracker covering stocks, ETFs, commodities and forex alongside crypto, and it is still actively developed. The Crypto App is crypto-only, with a deeper alerts and news layer. Delta suits people holding a mixed portfolio; The Crypto App suits people whose money is entirely in crypto.

Delta carries a reputation it hasn't earned. Because eToro bought it, and because acquired apps so often rot quietly for years before anyone announces the funeral, a lot of people assume Delta is coasting on maintenance releases. It isn't. Whatever you decide here, decide it about the app that exists in 2026 rather than the one you remember.

Is Delta still actively developed?

Yes, visibly so. The iOS build was last updated on 24 August 2026 and the Android build on 31 July 2026. The August release notes announced that Delta AI had been extended to every user, with monthly AI allowances on the free tier rather than the feature being fenced behind PRO. Development still runs through Opus Labs, the Belgian team that built Delta before the acquisition, and the feature list on Delta's own site currently runs to more than forty items across connection, tracking, alerting and discovery.

Ratings hold up too: 4.7 stars from around 11,000 ratings on iOS, 4.0 from roughly 31,000 on Google Play, on over a million Android installs. This is not an abandoned product, and any comparison that tells you otherwise is selling you something.

That matters for your decision, because "the incumbent is dying" is the laziest reason to switch trackers. If you leave Delta, leave it for a reason that survives contact with the current build.

The free tier has no cap on how many assets you can hold in view.

Where is Delta the better app?

It tracks things that aren't crypto. Delta covers stocks, ETFs, commodities, forex, indices, mutual funds and NFTs in one portfolio, syncing with what it describes as 200+ exchanges, brokers and crypto wallets across 100,000+ assets and 150+ fiat currencies. If a third of your net worth sits in an index fund and you want one number for everything, this is decisive and nothing on our side answers it. The Crypto App tracks crypto. That is the whole scope, deliberately.

Desktop. Delta ships real Windows and Mac applications alongside mobile. The Crypto App's web experience is a v0.1 preview covering four areas, and the depth is on mobile. If your portfolio work happens at a keyboard, that gap is real and it runs against us. Web vs. mobile tracking covers what that actually costs you day to day.

Reporting depth. Delta's paid tiers add portfolio insight modules covering realised and unrealised gains, unit and total cost basis, fees, risk analysis, portfolio-level P/E and a "good and bad decisions" retrospective. PRO+ opens all eleven modules. Ours is a lighter analytical layer by design, and someone who genuinely wants to interrogate past decisions will find more to work with in Delta.

The entry price. Delta PRO is $6.99 a month, or $53.88 billed yearly. Our Pro is $8.99. Delta also sells a $299 lifetime licence through its desktop app, which has no equivalent here and is a rational purchase for anyone confident they'll still be tracking in five years.

Where does The Crypto App do more?

Alerts. This is the clearest functional separation between the two. Beyond price and percentage triggers, The Crypto App runs volume alerts, market cap alerts, pump alerts and wallet transaction alerts on Pro and Pro+, with 100 alerts on Free, 150 on Pro and 200 on Pro+. If your actual use case is being told when something happens rather than checking whether it has, that layer is the product rather than a feature of it.

Crypto-native connection depth. Read-only coverage across 100+ exchanges and 15+ blockchains, pricing 10,000+ assets. Delta's 200+ integrations are impressive, but they are spread across brokers, exchanges and wallets in a multi-asset product. Ours are all pointed at one asset class, which shows most on chains and smaller venues. Tracking a portfolio across multiple wallets covers how that plays out with several chains in the mix.

News beside the holdings. A personalised feed drawn from around 68 publishers, filtered to what you actually hold, in the same app as the portfolio. Price without context is half a picture.

Macro context. Market Analysis puts crypto against Gold and S&P 500 overlays, which is the comparison that usually matters when you are deciding whether crypto moved or everything moved. Crypto vs. gold and the S&P 500 explains how to read those charts.

Widgets and languages. Global, Prices, News, Portfolio and ETH gas widgets, the last iOS only, plus a UI in 12 languages.

What do the free tiers actually cost you?

This is the most useful comparison on the page, because the two products cap opposite things.

Delta Basic gives you unlimited connections and caps you at 10 tracked assets. Link every account you own, and Delta will still show you ten holdings. For someone with a tidy portfolio of six positions that is genuinely unlimited use. For anyone with a long tail of small bags, the free tier does not show your portfolio, it shows a sample of it.

The Crypto App's free tier inverts that. No cap on how many assets appear, unlimited manual positions, 100 price alerts, watchlists, charting, news and widgets. What it constrains is the number of wallet and exchange connections, and that limit lifts on Pro+.

So the question resolves cleanly. Many accounts, few holdings, and Delta's free tier is the better deal. Few accounts, many holdings, and ours is. Most people can answer that in about ten seconds without installing anything.

Which one should you install?

Install Delta if your portfolio is mixed. Stocks and crypto in one view is a real problem that Delta solves and we don't, and the reporting modules on PRO+ go deeper into past performance than anything here. It is also the right pick if you want a lifetime licence or you do your tracking on a laptop.

Install The Crypto App if crypto is the portfolio. You will get more chains, more exchanges, an alerts layer that goes well past price, and a news feed sitting next to the holdings rather than in an app you forget to open. And you will not hit a ten-asset ceiling the week you buy your eleventh token.

If you are genuinely torn, the tiebreaker is not a feature table. Connect the same read-only keys to both for a fortnight, which costs nothing and risks nothing because a read-only key cannot move funds. Is it safe to connect an exchange covers why that is true. After two weeks one of them will be the icon your thumb goes to before you have decided to open anything, and that reflex is worth more than any comparison, including this one.

Delta's pricing, plan limits, release dates and feature claims above were verified in September 2026 from Delta's own pricing page, its help centre and its App Store and Google Play listings. Both products ship frequently — check current terms before you decide.

Common questions

No. Delta's iOS build was updated in August 2026 and its Android build in July 2026, and the August release extended Delta AI to all users rather than restricting it to paid tiers. The assumption that eToro shelved it after acquiring it is wrong.

Delta's entry paid tier is cheaper. Delta PRO is $6.99 a month or $53.88 a year, against Pro at $8.99 a month here. At the top, Delta PRO+ is $13.99 a month or $107.88 a year and Pro+ here is $14.99 a month or $174.99 a year. Delta also sells a $299 lifetime licence, which The Crypto App does not.

Yes, and this is its main structural advantage. Delta covers stocks, ETFs, commodities, forex, indices, funds and NFTs alongside crypto, syncing with what it describes as 200+ exchanges, brokers and crypto wallets. The Crypto App tracks crypto only.

Delta Basic caps you at 10 tracked assets. Connections are unlimited, so you can link every account you own, but only ten holdings will be visible. If you hold more than ten positions, the free tier will not show your real portfolio.

It is worth knowing. eToro is a brokerage, and Delta's paid tiers bundle eToro Platinum membership where regionally available. Delta remains a standalone tracker and does not require an eToro account, but the commercial incentive of a broker-owned tracker is different from that of an independent one.

Yes. Read-only connections cannot move funds, so linking the same accounts to two trackers carries no custody risk. A common split is Delta on desktop for mixed stock-and-crypto reporting, and The Crypto App on the phone for alerts and daily crypto checking.

Pro is $8.99/month, Pro+ is $14.99/month or $174.99/year, and the free tier stays free.
